What a Rack and Stack service includes
Rack and Stack covers the physical installation of equipment in racks or cabinets, along with organization, power, connectivity and documentation. We can work on existing infrastructure or as part of an expansion, migration or commissioning project.
Equipment we can install
The scope is adapted to the customer design and procedure. Typical equipment includes:
- 1U, 2U and 4U rack servers and compute nodes
- Blade chassis and hyperconverged infrastructure
- Access, distribution and core switches
- Routers, firewalls, gateways and security appliances
- SAN, NAS and DAS storage systems and disk shelves
- Load balancers and application appliances
- Console servers, KVM and out-of-band management equipment
- OLT, aggregation and telecommunications transport equipment
- Optical equipment, transponders, MUX/DEMUX and transport platforms
- ODF/DIO, copper and fiber patch panels, MPO/MTP cassettes
- Rack PDUs, ATS, rackmount UPS and power distribution modules
- Grounding bars, cable managers, shelves, rails and blanking panels
- SFP/SFP+/QSFP modules, DAC, AOC and copper or fiber patch cords
Mechanical mounting and rack preparation
We install rails, shelves, guides, horizontal or vertical cable managers, mounting kits and accessories. Before installation we verify available rack units, depth, physical capacity, airflow, weight distribution and hardware compatibility.
Power and data connectivity
We connect equipment to PDUs, A/B power feeds when designed, copper and fiber patching, transceivers and cable organization. Power-up and any operation on critical equipment are performed only under an agreed authorization and procedure.
Servers, networking and security
We install servers, switches, routers, firewalls, appliances and management devices, leaving each item properly secured, labeled and connected. When required, we coordinate with remote specialists through smart hands / FLM.
Fiber optics, ODF and cross-connects
We integrate the installation with fiber optic cabling, ODFs, patch panels, cassettes, patch cords and cross-connects. We can also perform OTDR and optical power testing to validate links.
Cable management, labeling and inventory
We identify equipment, ports, power feeds and links; organize cabling; and provide photographic evidence. We can update inventories, occupied rack units, serial numbers, connections, physical position and installation records.
Migrations, moves and decommissioning
We also perform equipment removal, relocation, re-racking, replacement and decommissioning. Work can include documented disconnection, controlled removal, reinstallation, patching and post-work physical verification.
Coordinated data center work
Rack and Stack is executed with a checklist, maintenance window, prior identification of racks, equipment and ports, and clear escalation criteria. For distributed projects we coordinate nationwide coverage according to scope and criticality.
